Frequently Asked Questions

What are the advantages of the system?

The main focus of the Simplicity MDT system is to manage the EHRs of patients being discussed at MDT meetings, and record the decisions (or opinions) of the care group, and the actions to be taken. It tracks patient discussions at all MDTs to provide a single well-structured source of information for their journey.

The goal of this system is to improve patient safety and care by reducing clinical and clerical weaknesses in the current systems, ensuring all relevant information is available and accountable (as long as it was recorded in the system).

From a consultant’s point of view, the system should reduce the workload through automation, improving the potential for optimal multidisciplinary collusion, and improving patient care by reducing the potential for error.

This system also provides a mineable database of information, which can be used to, for example, list all patients in the last month for which there was discordance, identifying the number of lesions marked as educational for each consultant, or identify patients suitable for drug trials.

What MDTs are supported?

MDTs aren't a specification, and each MDT group tends to approach their meetings in a way that best suits them, and under a unique set of constraints. Simplicity MDT is a backend system that allows us to quickly piece together typical functionality that can be tailored to the MDT at hand. Our process uses agile development in which a series of working prototypes are developed and feedback supplied by the customer, and refinements made for the next iteration of the system. This identifies problems early, and ensures that the system supplied is usable and meets the needs and expectations of the customer.

Does the system need to be installed?

No. The system is web based so can be accessed across a range of devices with a web browser. This allows the system to be used anytime, anywhere.

Information recorded by the system is securely stored, encrypted in a database, and a number of back up strategies are available. All access to the system is recorded and all updates to the records are tracked.

From the point of view of the user, accounts are provided with secure “role based access” which limits functionality to only performing a relevant subset of available tasks. Accountability is also provided by recording every page view and all updates made by the users.

In terms of patient care, although Simplicity MDT is not a diagnostic device, alerts can be set for when values entered don’t match expectations, or highlight specific situations, for example, if a patient discussion has been deferred longer than a specified threshold.

Can the system accommodate changes in process?

We appreciate that medicine is a constantly evolving field, with new technologies and approaches constantly being introduced, or information suddenly becoming relevant.

Simplicity MDT was developed with this in mind. We work closely with the user to make the pages as useful as possible, with elements designed to be extendable. For example, administration tools can be provided to add to or suppress items in a list of procedures that will be available as options to the user.

The forms can also be extended using "Generic Data Entities" (GDEs) to place additional configurable fields on the form that are patient specific, or which will be displayed on all future forms (until suppressed). For example, we can easily add a field to an existing in use
deployment asking if the patient is allergic to any medications, or if the patient has received a specific novel therapy.

As each MDT deployment needs to be tailored to best suit the nature of the MDT and the requirements of the users, no standard price is available. You can contact us through our contact page with your requirements and contact information and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
